2nd Annual Gingerbread House Contest & Exhibit
Saturday, December 1, 2018 | 11:00 am - Wednesday, December 12, 2018 | 5:00 pm
Did you know that the first known recipe for gingerbread traces all the way back to Ancient Greece (around 2400 BC)? It’s true! It turns out the story of how gingerbread and gingerbread houses came to be is “spiced up” with a healthy measure of interesting history, cross-cultural exchange, and the contributions of immigrants. (Read more from PBS.org here.)
The Mariposa is commemorating the vital role that food and cooking play in culture and in bringing people together with our Second Annual Gingerbread House Contest & Exhibit. Bake with your kids, your parents, your spouse, your friends… get together and bring your gingerbread creation to the Mariposa between now and December 12th to be entered into the contest!
Contestants may choose to create a more traditional entry or let your imagination (or love of world cultures) run wild. Prizes will be awarded to winners in multiple categories with winning entries announced by December 15. Entries will be put on display at the Mariposa for museum visitors to see.
Entries can be delivered to the museum between 11am-5pm, Tuesday through Sunday.
