Eye on Iran – Reflections of Two Peace Corps Volunteers Who Lived There

Thursday, October 17 | 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Eye on Iran - Reflections of Two Peace Corps Volunteers Who Lived TherePeterborough residents Tom Westheimer and Ron McIntire, who both served in Iran as U.S. Peace Corps volunteers, revisit that often misunderstood land via the lens of Dutch documentarian Thomas Erdbrink. Married to Iranian photographer Newsha Tavakolian, Erdbrink has worked in Iran as a correspondent for the New York Times and appeared in the two-episode series Our Man in Tehran which was first aired on PBS’s Frontline in 2018. Because this documentary is too long to view in its entirety in the time allowed, the presenters will alternate between screening selected clips and discussion.

While it is not necessary to view both parts of of the documentary before the event, it is highly recommended. Our Man in Tehran is available to view for free on the PBS Frontline website. Join Tom and Ron for an evening that is sure to include lively discussion, insights, and perhaps even a few laughs.

Free for Mariposa members. Regular museum admission for non-members ($8 adults, $6 seniors).
