Afternoon Concert: Quartet Davis
This string quartet from Oberlin, Ohio, pushes the boundaries of chamber music by embedding solo and group improvistion into original pieces and arrangements of traditional and contemporary works. In a beautiful setting of wedding gowns from around the world (the Mariposa's current exhibit) enjoy the music of violinists Camille Vogley-Howes and Molly Tucker (of Nubanusit Neighborhood) and cellist Karl Henry. From jazz and blues to traditional folk styles and original contemporary works, Quartet Davis performs engaging and creative music that brings joy to a range of audiences. The quartet has enjoyed collaborations with musicians such as Fabian Almazan and Linda Oh, and look forward to upcoming collaborations in Spring 2018 with pianist Billy Childs. Quartet Davis has studied with masters of string improvisation such as Chris Thile and Christian Howes. They have also premiered original contemporary compositions by upcoming jazz and classical composers at Oberlin Conservatory.”
