As globalization erodes much of this diversity, and with it the knowledge and gifts inherent in our biodiverse pluriverse, our planetary future may hinge on our willingness to let go of our own cultural assumptions and learn from the perspectives of others. During the Atlantic slave trade, more Africans were brought in bondage to Brazil than to any other country iin the Americas -- 10 times the number brought to North America. This exhibit from the National Endowment for the Humanities explores how African cultures blended with indigenous and colonial Portuguese traditions to form the unique, vibrant, and complex cultural mosaic of present-day Brazil.
