On November 14, eight teams met on the stage at the Peterborough Town House to contest the 5th Annual Geography Challenge. Our teams were the Dubliners (Dublin School), GOBStoppers (ConVal High), the Geographriends (Keene State College), the Geo Trio (O’Mara family), Planet of the Apes (Petrov family), RBC Capital Markets Geography Consultants (RBC Wealth Management), the Rivermediums (Rivermead), and the River Rocks (River Center).Irv Richardson emceed the Challenge, shedding one costume to appear as Waldo! Sue Martin developed the questions which went from simple to very challenging and explored the many facets of geography along the way. Bruce Dionne was our judge. After 45 minutes of competition, the field narrowed to three teams, and at the end of five questions in the final round, we had a winner – the Geo Trio: Caleb and Sean O’Mara and Harry Thomas. The Rivermediums came in second and the River Rocks in third. The Planet of the Apes won the best costume award and King Kong presented the winners with a bunch of ripe bananas. A good time was had by all, as you can see from these photos!
La Pâtisserie du Monde served delicious sweets from around the world and we drew tickets for four great destinations raffled off in the weeks before the Challenge.
