“What Pete Taught Woody” with Nora Guthrie & Pete Seeger Sing-In!

"What Pete Taught Woody" with Nora Guthrie & Pete Seeger Sing-In!

2019 marks the centennial of Pete Seeger’s birth! The Mariposa community will celebrate Seeger’s centennial with a participatory event with special guest Nora Guthrie (daughter of Woody Guthrie).

The afternoon will lead off with a Seeger/Guthrie sing-in led by four terrific local songleaders: Amy Conley, Steve Schuch, Mike Bradley and David Lord. Come join the chorus for a few of our favorite Pete and Woody songs, leading into Nora Guthrie’s special multimedia presentation “What Pete Taught Woody” – with interviews, photos, and archival materials – providing insight into the working relationship between Pete and Woody.

** The Mariposa event is the first of two great folk-related events on May 25th in Peterborough. At 7:30pm, Peterborough Folk Music will present Tracy Grammer with Jim Henry in Bass Hall (details here). So join us at the Mariposa for song and presentation, have a quick dinner, then head over to Bass Hall for some more wonderful music! **
